Co-parent tips for saving money

Raising children is a rewarding proposition, but it is also an expensive one. Rarely more so if the parents are no longer married or never were. Strategic coordination for paying for expenses may not be for everyone, but the benefits may outweigh deficits when it comes to the bottom line.

More women are paying alimony

The gender divide regarding pay scale still needs to be bridged in some companies. Nevertheless, the equal pay for the same work is increasingly common, perhaps with the U.S. National Women’s Soccer Team and the #MeToo movement pushing the culture scale further into balance.

The timeline for divorce

Every divorce proceeds at its own pace, reflecting the parties involved, their approach, their personality, the complexity of the estate and other unique factors. It is the attorney’s job to keep clients informed about the process and what they can expect as they move forward, but there can still be unpleasant surprises and exasperating delays. Nevertheless, there is still a general (if complicated) legal process that takes place.

Is money the cause of divorce?

Marital bliss and marital satisfaction have many different narratives. One is that marriage starts as romantic and passionate, but then cools to a more settled or business-like coexistence. Another is that the financial circumstances of the couple or family impact their happiness.

Same sex divorce poses some unique challenges

Thousands of couples have gotten married since the U.S. Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage in 2015. This afforded couples to have the same legal protections as heterosexual marriages, including tax benefits from joint filing, access to employee benefits as well as the power to make critical medical decisions. As with heterosexual unions, however, some same-sex couples have found that marriage was not the right decision.

Tricks for coping with anger

Anger is a natural and sometimes useful part of everyone’s emotional make-up. It can spur us to respond to a physical or verbal confrontation. It can also inspire us to change something about ourselves, those around us, or even society. While it can be good fuel to light a fire, however, it often will create a fire that rages out of control. It can leave a person isolated from friends, hinder their effectiveness at work, cause rifts in a family, or be self-destructive.
