Foster Parents, Grandparents and Juvenile Legal Matters
The law is moving more toward favoring the rights of fit parents when in contest with relatives and others. However, we have had significant success in certain situations, especially those of foster parents who seek to retain children with whom they have bonded and for whom they have served as primary attachment figures.
The firm has practiced in Denver Juvenile Court and in courts handling juvenile legal matters for over twenty-five years. We have served as Guardian ad Litem in abuse and neglect cases. We also represent relatives and foster parents who are seeking to obtain legal guardianship and physical custody of children whom they love and have cared for.
We have represented grandparents in preserving their rights of access to their grandchildren when the grandchildren are the subjects of a divorce, dependency and neglect or allocation of parental responsibilities action.
We have advised families when allegations of sexual abuse have developed between children in the family and when children are accused in juvenile delinquency cases.
We are prepared to handle step-parent adoptions and have litigated a number of cases involving allegations of abandonment by a biological parent.
