“I enjoy the challenge of resolving family law problems and the sense of mutual accomplishment I feel with clients when they can move forward with their lives. I really appreciate hearing from clients and knowing how they are doing long after our work together has been completed.”

David Littman is a Family Law attorney who is highly experienced in the full range of Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) techniques, as well as in the courtroom. Respectful and compassionate, David is careful listener and an astute problem solver who helps his clients explore the options and make the choices that will produce the best outcome for themselves and their families. His goal is to provide the knowledge and advocacy his clients need to exercise control over the emotionally and financially challenging process of legally restructuring their lives after a divorce or other family law matter.

David encourages all parties to focus on meeting the needs of the entire family by resolving disputes outside the courtroom, if feasible.  David offers an uncommon depth and breadth of expertise in ADR techniques, including Collaborative Law, Mediation, Arbitration, Settlement Master and Early Neutral Assessment.  These approaches generally result in lower the legal fees and shift the pace and control of the divorce and custody process from the judges and lawyers to the clients.

When litigation is required, David draws on his many years of federal and state jury and court trial experience to advocate persuasively and effectively for his clients. A former part time Magistrate in Denver and Jefferson Counties, he offers special insight into the inner working of the courtroom process.

David’s background in psychology and mental health counseling assists him in working with complex family issues. He has recognized competency in dealing with extremely difficult matters, including those involving sexual abuse, substance abuse and mental illness. His concern for the unique issues military families face during their service has prompted his interest in working with both military members (active or retired) and their spouses.

David strongly believes that the dynamic scope of his practice keeps him energized and committed to his clients. His primary areas of focus include financial concerns, parental rights, parenting time, child support, post divorce modification, parental alienation and enforcement and other issues pertaining to the dissolution of marriage and civil unions. Other equally important practice areas include adoptions, grandparent rights, foster parent rights and juvenile law representation.

David is a founding member of the Colorado Collaborative Divorce Professionals, as well as the treasurer and long-time member of the Academy for Collaborative Law Practice.  He is a member of the Ethics Committee of the Colorado Bar Association and a past Chair of the Family Law Section.  David is a guest lecturer, student mentor and externship sponsor for the University of Denver Sturm College of Law.

David’s pro bono work earned him the Foster Parent Association of Colorado Advocate of the Year Award, as well as recognition by the Colorado Supreme Court. He served for seven years as a member of the Colorado CASA Board, including two years as Chairman of the Board.  He is a strong supporter and participant with Metro Volunteer Lawyers.

David has been recognized by both his clients and his peers for his outstanding work as an effective and caring attorney.  Martindale Hubbell has given him their highest rating – AV - Preeminent Status.  Avvo has given him their highest rating (10.0).  Avvo also recognizes him as a Top Contributor and Client’s Choice Award winner.   He has been recognized as a Colorado Super Lawyer.

David is married with one child.  He is a passionate underwater photographer whose work was recently exhibited in a gallery.  He is an enthusiastic supporter of Denver’s sports teams, especially the Colorado Rockies.  His Golden Retriever, Lily, often comes to work and greets the firm’s clients.
